“It has been a prolonged wet season and this was one of the few bright sunny mornings. This Little Heron (Butorides striata javanica) took the opportunity to get some warmth and dry out the wings.
“I have seen Grey and Purple Herons hold their wings in this cupped fashion to dry out but not the Little Heron (top). Subsequently went on to preening, running feathers though the beak to clean them (above, below).
