“Most mornings at Bidadari LINK are filled with screeches from Red-breasted Parakeets (Psittacula alexandri), Rose-ringed Parakeets (Psittacula krameri) and also Tanimbar Corellas (Cacatua goffini) which call these woodlands home.
“I was observing a big flock of at least 20 Rose-ringed Parakeets one morning, and noticed that while they were keeping together in a certain area, they were foraging on different trees. The above image shows a parakeet eating flowers of Mexican Lilac tree (Gliricidia sepium). This bird must be a recent escapee as she still had a chain attached to her.
“The above video clip shows them eating the red seeds of Saga (Adenanthera pavonina). The clip below shows the parakeets eating the seeds of Acacia (Acacia auriculiformis).
