Banded Woodpecker – pair

An adult Banded Woodpecker (Chrysophlegma miniaceum malaccense) pair preening and calling out in the early morning.

All the calls were given by the female – showing the white speckling on the face (all three images above female). Note also greenish-bronze mantle and back.

The image above is that of the male.
