Saw this Manchurian Bush-Warbler (Horornis borealis) in the undergrowth and a pile of stacked sticks at close range but hard to get a clear image of this skulker. Was feeding actively while we watched.
Nomenclature issues:
a. Manchurian Bush-warbler Horornis borealis is used by:
- Clements Checklist of the Birds of the World 2018
- The Howard & Moore Complete Checklist of the Birds of the World 4th Edition
- eBird
- Lepage, D. 2019. Checklist of the birds of Taiwan. Avibase, the world bird database
- International Ornithologists’ Union (IOC) World Bird List 2018, version 8.2 – but states “Unsettled taxonomy” “New genetic data support original split of Manchurian Bush Warbler, including canturians and borealis from H. diphone”
- Oriental Bird Images place it under Oriental Bush Warbler Cettia diphone
