Java Sparrow – juveniles

“Saw a pair of juvenile Java Sparrows (Lonchura oryzivora) allopreening each other (below) as well as ‘beaking’ (above), probably as a show of affection.

“Java Sparrows are well known to allopreen as well as sit in ‘clumping posture’ (sit in close contact with each other) as part of social bonding (below).

“It was a hot day and a number of adults were drinking from a puddle (below).”
