Purple-naped and Plain Sunbirds feeding on Poikilospermum suaveolens flowers

Purple-naped Sunbird.

“Many birds feed on the flowers of Poikilospermum suaveolens to get to the nectar. I observed the Purple-naped Sunbirds (Hypogramma hypogrammicum nuchale) do this on two visits to this site (male in image above). There are many insects that visit the flowers but I do not see the birds picking those out but instead eating the flowers.

“Bird I have personally observed feeding on the flowers of Poikilospermum suaveolens (eat the flowers to get to the nectar):”
