Golden Tree Snake failed to swallow a Common Myna

Subramanian Chockalingam’s video clip shows a Common Vine Snake (Chrysopelea ornate), known as Golden Tree Snake in India, trying hard to swallow a larger Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis).

The snake had apparently injected venom into the bird killing it. It had swallowed the head of the bird by was unable to get beyond the neck. Eventually the snake lost its grip on the head and the bird fell to the ground below.
