“Just sharing an observation this morning at 8am, when I heard an owl-like call nearby, while brushing my teeth. It went like, ‘hoot, hoot, hoot-hoot, hoot’ around 4-5 times. Check out the calls of the Greater Coucal recorded by Dato’ Dr Amar-Singh HSS in the video clip below.
“I looked out of the window in search of an ‘owl’, but instead, witnessed a Greater Coucal (Centropus sinensis) fly past! A lifer for me. Thought it was unusual to spot one in an urban area. It was flying in the direction of Singapore General Hospital and upcoming Outram Community Hospital, with quite a bit of construction ongoing.
“The only green patch which it might find respite in, could be up the ‘hill’ near McAlister Road, where I spotted a White-bellied Sea Eagle’s nest in a distant, from my home, just yesterday.”
