Red-wattled Lapwing – juveniles

posted in: Morphology-Develop. | 0

“Three juvenile Red-wattled Lapwings (Vanellus indicus atronuchalis) with two adults seen this morning. Two were feeding with one parent and the other one was with another parent about 15 meters away.

“They were near adult plumage – still some white (instead of black) on forehead/throat, the wattle from the eye yet to grow further anteriorly and the wattle is still an orange-red rather than full red.
