A chance meeting with nature photographer Lilian Sng led to our exciting encounter with parakeets along Sian Tuan Avenue. Lilian informed us of the presence of these birds on the roof of houses and among the Coconut Palms (Cocos nucifera) grown there. She suspected that these parakeets may be breeding or roosting under the roofs of these houses.

With this information, Estela V Acierto managed to capture the parakeets flying in one morning with her iPhone (above and video by Estela below).
Days later when we started serious monitoring of the houses, we were thrilled to encounter small flocks flying in. Accompanied by loud calls, their spectacular displays of flapping green wings and trailing long tail feathers were a sight to behold (see video below in slow motion by YC). Most of these birds were Rose-ringed Parakeets (Psittacula krameri).
