A Red-whiskered Bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus) was seen moving from one branch of a tree to another vigorously fluffing its feathers. It did not remain long in each location. And there was no preening of the feathers, only vigorous fluffing.
Fluffing of feathers indicates that the bulbul was trying to keep out the cold. Apparently, fluffing traps pockets of air that in turn hold body heat.
