Javan Myna – nectar feeding

posted in: Feeding-plants | 0

“Saw a small flock of Javan Mynas (Acridotheres javanicus), also considering Jungle Mynas (Acridotheres fuscus) feeding on the nectar of the African Tulip Tree (Spathodea campanulata).

“The birds have to dip down into the ‘cup’ to drink and then tilt the head back to allow the fluid to trickle down – see Post 1 with moist beak and head tilted back. Some were tearing part of the flower (above, upper bird).”
