Large Woodshrike – juvenile’s call

“I heard these odd calls in the jungle and it took some time to spot a juvenile Large Woodshrike (Tephrodornis gularis fretensis), high in the canopy, calling out to be fed (above, below).

“It was accompanied by a single adult and was moving from tree to tree following the adult.

“The adult made the classical adult calls but very infrequently.

“Edited audio recording above and sonogram/waveform below.”
