“Although I have seen Jungle Mynas (Acridotheres fuscus torquatus) feeding on fruit prior to this (Oil Palm fruit, Elaeis guineensis), I still find it ‘unusual’ to see such behaviour as they feed primarily on animal prey. This fruiting tree (unknown name) at the fringe of the forest reserve, with small fruit, attracted birds from the primary jungle and surrounding secondary forest.

“Birds seen feeding on it include:
Jungle Myna Acridotheres fuscus torquatus
Asian Fairy-bluebird Irena puella malayensis
Greater Green Leafbird Chloropsis sonnerati zosterops
Gold-whiskered Barbet Megalaima chrysopogon laeta
Yellow-vented Bulbuls Pycnonotus goiavier analis
Black-naped Oriole Oriolus chinensis maculatus

“I am sure others birds will also be found feeding here, as this fruit is a favourite of many bulbuls, flowerpeckers, etc. Imaging is difficult as the tree has a mass of thin branches.”
