“I encountered this Plantain Squirrel (Callosciurus notatus singapurensis) during an outing at the zoo yesterday morning. It was running along the metal railing (first photo) and suddenly stopped (below).
“Usually, it’s hard to tell the sex of a Plantain Squirrel except in this case, the male genitalia was on display (below).
“I did some googling and I’m wondering whether this may be a case of ?genital grooming/cleaning. This took place for about 10 seconds. Maybe it became conscious of my presence and shortly after scurried away.”
