“In April 2016, the chick of a Buffy Fish Owl (Ketupa ketupu) became a local celebrity as nature enthusiasts and bird photographers flocked to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (SBWR) to admire this young feathered friend.
“This was a golden opportunity to observe its behaviour and monitor its development (see images).
“Towards the end of the month, it was proud to show off its plumage, which already resembled its parents’. My last sighting of the chick was on 29th April and it was a joy to witness how much it had grown (bottom).
“A video summary of this growing chick (from early to late April) may be previewed here:
“Congratulations to the responsible parents for successfully raising their young and my sincere appreciations to the dedicated SBWR NParks staff for ensuring that the habitat remains ideal for avifauna and other wildlife to breed.”
