Grey-headed Babbler – calls and social organisation

“Saw up to 6 Grey-headed Babblers (Stachyris poliocephala) together in a social foraging or family group (information on social organisation limited). Images were poor (below) due to thick canopy but birds were observed for some time with calls frequently heard.

“The classic call – a “chit-tiwi-wioo-iwee” (Robson) followed by an intense “high-pitched rattle” (Wells) can be heard below. The ‘high-pitched rattle’ was a response call.
