Jackie Ong’s images of a male Red-breasted Parakeet (Psittacula alexandri) munching into the ripe fruits of the Yellow Flame (Peltophorum pterocarpum) tree to get at the seeds is probably a new food record.
According to Wells (1999), there is no information on its food. Collar (1997) however lists this parakeet as eating leaf buds, flowers seeds and grains of some plants but not Yellow Flame.
