Striated Laughingthrush: Calls

posted in: Vocalisation | 0

An earlier post dealt with the call of the Streaked Laughingthrush (Garrulax lineatus setafer) accompanied by waveform and sonogram.

This post, also by Dato’ Dr Amar-Singh HSS, deals with the calls of another species, Striated Laughingthrush (Garrulax striatus sikkimensis), recorded also from the Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary, Ravangla Subdivision, South Sikkim, India.

The calls tend to be harsh and repeated frequently, like “shrieks”. The audio recording HERE is accompanied by waveforms and sonograms (above), showing the regular nature of the calls.

The Image above is another call recording (not posted) of similar calls but this time used in an irregular fashion, almost conversationally.
