Everett’s White-eye feeding on Poikilospermum nectar

on 7th November 2014

“The epiphytic climber Poikilospermum suaveolens (Family: Urticaceae) is favourite of many birds, see: LINK.

“In the past I have seen three birds feed on (eat) the flowers to get to the nectar:

1. Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush (Garrulax mitratus) LINK.

2. Brown-throated Sunbird (Anthreptes malacensis) LINK.

3. Streaked Spiderhunters (Arachnothera magna) LINK.

“Today at this [Cameron Highlands] hill station I saw the Everett’s White-eye doing doing the same (above). A small flock of 12-15 eating the flowers.”
