Painted Stork at the Royal Selangor Golf Club

on 11th March 2014

The above image by Dr Jean Ho was taken recently at the Royal Selangor Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to Dato’ Dr Amar-Singh HSS who is based in the Malaysian state of Perak, most of the storks are the Painted Stork (Mycteria leucocephala), with at least two Milky Stork (Mycteria cinerea) in the group.

These storks are seen “more often on poles, rooftops, etc in Klang Valley (even when I visit Kuals Lumpur),” noted Amar. “
Possibly from the Zoo or Putrajaya wetlands where there is a small breeding colony of Painted Stork. Also another breeding colony at the National Zoo.”
