“On the evening of 9th January 2012, a pair of Paradise Shelducks (Tadorna variegata, Maori name Putangitangi) was enjoying a romantic buffet dinner of aquatic vegetation in a secluded tidal inlet in Picton, South Island, New Zealand (above).

“The male (with black head) and female (with white head) were discreetly nibbling away at their succulent salad, demonstrating proper table manners.
