Eurasian Tree Sparrow eating fruits of Acalypha siamensis

“I was wandering around Taman Lembah Kiara, situated in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Petaling Jaya, Selangor in the afternoon – to look for dragonflies. However, what caught my attention was a munia flying around with a flock of Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus). The sparrows were hopping on to an Acalypha siamensis shrub and back to the ground (above). Suddenly I realised the sparrows were actually picking the fruits of the acalypha plant (Above left image with insert showing the fruits)! I must admit, I don’t usually bother observing and photographing the sparrow but today I learnt something new.”
