Olive-backed Sunbird – nectar of the Rain Tree

Dato’ Dr Amar-Singh HSS also documented an Olive-backed Sunbird (Cinnyris jugularis ornatus) sipping nectar from the flowers of the Rain Tree (Albizia saman) in Kuching, Sarawak, in addition to the bird feeding on the flowers of Bougainvillea LINK.

“Again not a traditional food source and an indication the limited nectar food sources,” mused Amar.

This was in an urban environment on a bright afternoon day on 10th Seprember 2012
