“The Little Egrets (Egretta garzetta) facial skin variation when breeding is variable. Above is a composite of the variations I saw – from red-purple at top left (often more intense than this), to blue at top right, to yellow blue bottom left to just yellow. This apply to incubating birds as well – some had yellow facial skin, other blue or red. Some courting couples have no nape plumes or facial skin pigmentation. See attached image below. I looked for the E. garzetta nigripes (as some birds were a bit suspicions) bu no feet confirmation.”
