Pond Herons foraging

“Took a walk along the new Berlayer boardwalk this evening. The tide was high and I didn’t see any fauna of interest in the mangroves. On the other side of the boardwalk though, I saw at least 6 Chinese (em>Ardeola bacchus)/Javan Pond Herons (Ardeola speciosa) foraging in the open field.

“Video here taken through the perimeter fence of the field. In an effort to capture exactly what was being eaten, I rather overstretched the zoom on the latter half I’m afraid…”

Note: These herons feed on small frogs, fish, worms, molluscs, insects and other invertebrates.
