White-headed Munia feeding on grass seeds

“Some ‘common’ birds are poorly appreciated until we see their plumage well. The image above (left) shows the lovely tail of the White-headed Munia (Lonchura maja maja). Described as ‘rich, gloss, coppery brown’ (DR Wells 2007). It is seen feeding on the elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) a favourite foods of all the munias. The image above (right) shows the munia feeding on seeds of buffalo grass (Paspalum conjugatum).”
