Samson Tan photographed a Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus) catching a centipede at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on 1st January 2011.

According to Samson, “Chicken are known to feed on centipede, what I didn’t expect was that Javan Myna feed on centipede too. I managed to capture some shots by chance on Javan Myna hunt and feed on centipede.”

The myna spotted the centipede among the grass in the ground, picked it up and bashed it by vigorously swinging it to the left and right. Once the centipede was lifeless, it was swallowed.
